Founded in 1981, Amtech Systems is a publicly traded company (Nasdaq: ASYS) supplying essential equipment, services and consumables to the semiconductor industry. Our Semiconductor Fabrications Solutions (SFS) business provides consumables, parts and services for power semiconductor and mature node semiconductor OEMS. Our Thermal Process Solutions (TPS) business provides equipment and services for semiconductor advanced packaging applications, electronic assembly and power semiconductor packaging. The company manufactures products in several factories in the US and China and serves global customers.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Global Controller, the Assistant Controller will lead the finance activities for the Semiconductor Fabrications Solutions Segment, including reporting, accounting, treasury, tax, planning, budgeting, and contribute to capital structure strategy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial data, in accordance with GAAP, and debt compliance.
- Maintain a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act compliant environment.
- Lead the development, interpretation, and reporting of operating financial information, ensure all financial reporting and compliance obligations are fulfilled timely and accurately.
- Oversee all general accounting and control activities, including G/L accounting for US entity, month-end close, and account reconciliation.
- Provide analysis of monthly and quarterly results of operations and provide business reasons underlying these results.
- Identify deficiencies and provide analysis and recommendations for improvements.
- Establish accounting and finance practices and procedures, and ensure adequate systems and controls are in place to support the growth of the business.
- Maintain knowledge of current accounting and reporting requirements established by the AICPA, FASB, the SEC and other governmental agencies; analyze the implications of new requirements for our firm and industry, and help determine an appropriate approach for implementation.
- Manage constructive relationships with outside auditors, counsel and financial institutions.
- Personally craft and deliver presentations of financial information that are clear, to the point and insightful.
- Coordinate year-end audit and tax returns and risk management and insurance.
- Work cross functionally to develop positive work culture and support the strategic objectives of the company.
Qualifications:
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. Master’s preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive financial and accounting experience, with at least 3 years in an assistant controller role or similar accounting management role in a publicly traded company, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- CPA certification is preferred.
- Experience in SEC reporting, SOX compliance, and international accounting standards (IFRS and GAAP).
- Experience managing multiple location accounting operations, including working with subsidiaries and handling currency exchange, tax, and legal regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
Skills & Competencies:
- Experience leading and mentoring a team to achieve strategic objectives and continuous improvement projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with key internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead others across multiple domestic locations.
- Expert math skills, with the ability to interpret and manage large data sets to present to key stakeholders and reporting agencies.
- Expert in Microsoft Office Suite products, especially Excel functions.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software (e.g., OneStream) preferred.
- ERP background in D365 preferred.
